HERE’S A COUPLE FAQ’S AND INFORMATION ON WHAT WE DO
Q— What is powdercoating?
A—Powdercoating is the process of electrostatically applying a fine resin based coloured powder to metal parts for a durable and attractive looking finish. It is more flexible and healthy than liquid paint, and doesn’t flake if it chips. Once applied, the excess powder falls to the ground and can be cleaned up with a broom. The part gets transferred into an industrial sized oven and cures in temps exceeding 385 F. Once cooled, it is finished and returned to the customer!
Q— How large of items can you powdercoat?
A—Any size! Well, almost any size. We can go down to the smallest of small, as long as the item doesn’t need to have tight tolerances on it. Powder does add thickness to your pieces, so it is advised to stay away from powdercoating bolt heads, threads, and other such items. Going the other way, our oven is capable of fitting items 24’ long by 10’ wide by 8’ tall.
Q— What do I as the customer need to do before I bring you something?
A—There’s not much for you to worry about, but a couple things can make the process a lot more streamlined! One is to check over your piece and make sure there is a place for us to hang your item. We can’t powder something if there’s no way to hang it up! Secondly, your item will be being baked very hot. No rubber, plastic, grease, or other materials that can’t withstand heat should be left on your item. If you’re unsure about anything, we’ll be able to go over it with you and explain what needs to happen.
Q— My project is in a bunch of pieces/my project is fully assembled and needs to be torn down?
A—Project is torn apart? No worries! That works out great for us. As long as you explain to us what tight tolerance items need to be masked off, no problems there. On the other hand, we do not offer teardowns on most items. We don’t want to have an accident while disassembling or have an issue like losing small parts. Please bring your project reasonably torn down!
Q— How fast are your turnaround times?
A—This is a bit of a day-day question. Depends on what is happening at the shop that week! If something is brought in early in the week, chances are you’ll have it back on/before Friday. It can depend on what might already be going on that week though. Give us a call if you’re thinking of bringing something down and we’ll let you know!
Q— What colours do you have?
A—This is where the fun starts. It’s all up to you!! We can pull from over 7,000 colour options. We have quite a few in stock, but there’s a chance we’ll have to order specific ones. We are a custom shop, so bring in your ideas and we’d love to discuss and bring your vision to life.
Q— Do you deliver/pickup?
A—It is a possibility, but as of right now we do not have a permanent delivery/pickup driver. Depending on item size, it may be best to use a courier in town. Send us a picture of your project and we will figure out the best plan of attack!
